A bitter attack against the Zionist movement was made here yesterday at a pro-Arab meeting in the Hyde Park Hotel held under the auspices of the National League. The meeting was called “to enable British and Moslem leaders to make a united stand for a clear policy with regard to Palestine.”
An extensive Moslem campaign in Palestine was foreshadowed in a message to the meeting from Shawkat Ali, Indian Moslem leader. His message expressed friendship “with our Arab allies.” He also said that the Indian Moslems are aware of the “designs of the Jews in Palestine and in the Middle East.” Shawkat Ali notified the meeting that an extensive Moslem-campaign will shortly be launched in Palestine after a conference between himself and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem.
The meeting was addressed by a number of anti-Zionist British friends of the Arabs, among them Sir Edward Chaytor, who led the Australian forces in Palestine during the World War, and Howard Bury, M.P. The speakers warned against the activities of the Zionists in Palestine.
