The latest discoveries of Professor Macalister were made known in this country through the Rev. James A. Montgomery, Professor of Semities at the University of Pennsylvania and President of the American Schools of Oriental Research. They include the finding of walls in Jerusalem which are ascribed to David, the discovery of a new spring in addition to the one already known as the reason for the choice of the site of the city, and pottery relics identified as belonging to an era which gives a new date for the existence of the city 500 years further into antiquity than its previous earliest identification.
