A “Recall to the Synagogue” campaign was launched to day at a conference of the United Synagogue under the chairmanship of Lionel de Roths child, communal worker.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Rabbi Joseph Hertz stressed that the seats of Jewish religion and tradition on the continent were being wiped out and that English-speaking Jewry now constituted the mind, memory and heart of Jewry. The conferees adopted a resolution appealing for loyalty to the Synagogue in view of the “grave dangers confronting religious life.”
