Concluding their case against Walther Funk, director of the Reichsbank, American prosecutors yesterday introduced two documents proving that the bank played an active role in disposing of valuables stripped from Jews by the S.S.
One document dated Sept. 19, 1942 was a statement to the Ministry of Finance from the Reichsbank showing that the Ministry had a credit of 1,200,000 marks for gold, silver and jewels taken from Jews and deposited in the bank. The other was a list of thousands of Jewish-owned gold articles, the weight of which totalled 115 kilograms, which had been sent to Berlin brokers for sale on the jewelers’ exchange.
