Following the policy of the World Zionist Organization of separating the world Zionist movement from the internal political affairs of Israel, the world executive of the Revisionist Party today adopted a decision which makes it possible for Revisionists in Israel to amalgamate with the Irgun-sponsored Freedom Movement in the formation of a joint parliamentary group in the forthcoming Israeli parliamentary elections.
The decision emphasizes that the vote taken this week by a majority of delegates at the conference of Israeli Revisionists to merge with the Freedom Movement cannot be approved by the world executive inasmuch as the local party has no authority to decide on major policy matters. Nevertheless the executive is of the opinion that such a merger is possible provided that a separate parliamentary party is formed in which both Revisionists and Irgunists participate. The World Revisionist Movement remains separated from the Israeli branch, the decision said.
