Italian Minister of State Roberto Farinacci declared today in the newspaper II Regime Fascista that a rumored appeal of President Roosevelt to Pope Pius for a joint peace plea was an example of “Jewish pacifism” and added that “weapons will not be laid down before Israel is stretched to the ground.”
“Roosevelt’s maneuver is too transparent,” Farinacci wrote. “He obviously realized that Britain is being defeated and therefore wants to come to its aid by Jewish pacifism. One of course does not know what the Pope’s answer will be, but the Italian answer is: there will be no peace before a victory of German and Italian weapons. Weapons will not be laid down before Israel is stretched to the ground.”
