New anti-Jewish excesses have broken out in Rumania and two Jews were killed in Botosani and Husi, the newspaper Magyar Nemzet reported to-day. The paper also reported that hundreds of Communists and Jews were rounded up and sent to concentration camps in Transylvania.
The Rumanian Cabinet yesterday drafted a series of anti-Jewish laws on the Hung-arian model. Implementing decrees are expected in a few days eliminating Jews from professions and public offices.
Under the laws Jewish merchants and industrialists will gradually be eliminated as soon as it can be arranged for non-Jews to take over their enterprises. Licenses have already been withdrawn from all Jewish proprietors of hotels, taverns, liquor stores and tobacco shops.
The Rumanian newspaper Neamul Romanesc has published an editorial demanding an immediate order forbidding Jews to engage in any form of commerce, even peddling, in Rumanian towns. The editorial said the demand was based on the allegation that Jews asked exorbitant prices from poor Rumanian peasants.
