President Anwar Sadat of Egypt warned in Cairo Friday that a resumption of warfare in the Suez Canal zone is “very possible” after the extended cease-fire expires next Feb. 5. Mr. Sadat made his remarks in a question-and-answer period during a closed meeting of the Arab Socialist Union, Egypt’s only political party. Speaking of the continuing cease-fire he said, “We are not committed to anything. Nothing restricts our movements after this period. The armed forces have clear cut instructions to stand ready and to remain watchful around the clock.” President Sadat’s remarks were published yesterday.
