The danger that anti-schechita legislation will be enacted in Norway is imminent, a report received by the London “Daily Telegraph” and published today states.

According to a report, a commission representing the Norwegian parliament went to Copenhagen at the request of the Jewish community of Norway to study the matter. The commission consisted of three members of parliament and a veterinary. The commission has returned a report. Three of the members of the commission, including the veterinary, recommend the enactment of a schechita prohibition. The fourth member brought in a minority report objecting to the enactment of schechita prohibition as it would restrict religious liberty. It is stated that a majority in the Norwegian parliament favors prohibition of the schechita and it is predicted that the bill will pass without difficulty.

The emigration of a great number of Jewish families, it is stated, would result from the passage of the bill.
