Thirty-four schochtim are leaving shortly for Dub into supervise the kosher slaughtering and canning of 1,000,000 pounds of meat donated by the Government of Eire for Jewish DP’s in Germany and Austria, it was learned here today.
The transportation of the schochtim as well as the preparation of the meat is being arranged by the Joint Distribution Committee, which also negotiated the gift from Eire. The slaughterers were assembled from all parts of Europe, while special knives were brought from Frankfort and whetstones from New York.
