Sen. Herbert H. Lehman criticized the Eisenhower Administration here last night for failing to urge the Senate to ratify the United Nations Convention Against Genocide, despite promises to do so. The Senator called this inaction “shameful” and called upon the Senate to show its moral “determination” by moving toward passage of the convention.
Sen. Lehman spoke at Town Hall at an observance of the 37th anniversary of the proclamation of the republic of Armenia. He drew a parallel between the history of the Armenian and Jewish peoples, noting that both had retained their traditions and cultures despite constant dispersion.
