Funeral services were held today for Victor Jacobson, pioneer Zionist leader and representative of the movement at the League of Nations. Mr. Jacobson was buried in the Jewish cemetery at Versoix, near Geneva.
Jewish and non-Jewish notables from practically every country in Europe participated in the services including representatives of the League and the International Labor Office in Geneva.
Dr. Chaim Weizmann, former president of the World Zionist Organization, who came from Arosa to attend the funeral, paid tribute to Mr. Jacobson, whom he called “my oldest personal friend” and “great Jewish statesman.”
Other eulogies were delivered by Berl Locker, Laborite member of the World Zionist Executive; Dr. Nahum Goldman, president of the Committee of Jewish Delegations; Dr. Arthur Hantke of the Keren Hayesod; Chaim Farchy, president of the Jewish consistory in Bulgaria; Rabbi Isaac Rubinstein of Wilno, Poland, and Rabbi Poliakoff. The Swiss Committee of Jewish Delegations was also represented.
