Israel Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett said today prior to his departure for the United States that he would not raise any Israel proposals during his Washington talks but would touch generally on the present situation. During his Latin American trip, he said, he would discuss world affairs which relate to Israel.
Mr. Sharett told newsmen he did not think any specific proposals had been handed to the Arab States. He said it was true that the United States was interested in peace and stability in the Middle East as well as in other parts of the world but he did not know of any suggestions raised by the United States Government.
The Israel statesman expressed doubt whether the present Soviet “peace campaign” might change the situation with regard to Israel-Soviet relations. There were, he said, no signs of any change in the situation. He added that Mrs. Golda Myerson, the Minister of Labor, would remain at the United Nations, where she was sent to handle the question of Soviet anti-Semitism, as long as she was needed there.
