Since the Hadassah Radiology Institute in Jerusalem is the only one of its kind in the Near East, Dr. Ira L. Kaplan, director of the New York Department of Hospitals’ cancer division, has decided that the 100 milligrams of radium recently donated to the institute by his mother, Mrs. B. David Kaplan, will not suffice. He will seek to raise $20,000 for an additional 400 milligrams, the New York Hadassah office announced Friday.
Dr. Kaplan pointed out that an increase in cancer patients in Palestine must be expected because the influx of immigrants from European countries is large.
