The situation in southern Palestine is “not abnormal” the House of Commons was told today by Colonial Secretary William Ormsby-Gore.

Replying to questions on the latest developments in the Holy Land, the Colonial Secretary said the authorities had made many arrests in northern Palestine and “preventive arrests” in Jerusalem. He said the Palestine High Commissioner, Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, was now touring disturbed areas in Galilee and would report further on the situation shortly.

The Arab Supreme Committee, Mr. Ormsby-Gore declared on the basis of the “whole evidence” at his disposal, disapproves of the violence.
