Jews have a prominent place in the political arena in Ohio at the November election. Those nominated who will be voted on by the people of this city this Fall include: Gilbert Bettman, present Ohio attorney general, renominated by the Republican Party; Willis D. Gradison, member of the New York Stock Exchange, who rose from board boy to millionaire in 15 brief years, Republican candidate for state representative; Samuel Ach, former county treasurer, who is running as a fusion candidate for county commissioner and Edgar Friedlander, incumbent, who is running for reelection as a fusion candidate.
On the Democratic ticket this Fall there will appear the name of Frederic W. Johnson, candidate for state representative and great grandson of the first Jew to be born in Cincinnati. He is the son of Simeon M. Johnson, former vice-mayor and nestor of the Democratic Party here.
