A definite solution of the Palestine problem will have to wait until the end of the war, Dr. Israel Goldstein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, stated at a press conference today at which he summarized his impression on his recent trip to England.

Disclosing that he had conferred with members of the British Cabinet, including Foreign Minister Eden, on the Jewish demand for the abrogation of the White Paper and for the establishment of Palestine as a Jewish Commonwealth “as soon as Jews become the majority there,” Dr. Goldstein said.

“It was my net impression from most of the interviews that while no pronouncement of a new policy is likely to come forth in the near future, the admission of refugees who can get to Palestine should receive consideration. The situation with regard to the White Paper is therefore held in suspense and will not deteriorate against us. As for the definitive solution of the Palestine problem, the consensus of opinion was that it will have to wait until the end of the European war.”

Reporting on his conferences with Dr. Weizmann, and other members of the World Zionist Executive, Dr. Goldstein disclosed that out of these conferences emerged “a confirmed faith not only in the necessity but in the feasibility of a Jewish Commonwealth in Palestine.”
