A crowd of 10,000 turned out in the largest memorial meeting ever held in Palestine to pay tribute to the memory of the late Baron Edmond de Rothschild, eighty-nine year old Jewish philanthropist who died in Paris recently.

The work of the Baron, who founded the first modern Jewish agricultural colonies in Palestine and who spent $60,000,000 on his work in the Holy Land, was eulogized by Dr. Chaim Weizmann, former president of the World Zionist Organization, and Berl Katznelson, Laborite leader.

Baron de Rothschild paid his last visit to Palestine in 1925. At that time he expressed gratitude for having been allowed to live to see the development of Jewish life in Palestine, a cause he had championed when it seemed extremely visionary.
