A new campaign of terror against the Palestine police was launched here today with an unsuccessful attack on the head of the British police forces in Tel Aviv, J. P. I. Forde. As he was driving near police headquarters an unknown assailant fired four shots at close range shattering the windshield of his automobile, but leaving Ferde unscathed. The police official returned the fire, but the gunmen escaped. Later two youths were picked up for questioning.
Three policemen were injured here last night, one seriously, when several unknown persons fired through the windows of the Northern police station. The wounded men are British constables Hawkins and Quinn, who received slight injuries, and a Jewish policeman named Jacob Sehatz, who is in a serious condition. Simultaneous with the shooting, a grenade was thrown, but exploded without doing any harm. The police station guards fired at the gunmen but they escaped.
