The American Jewish Historical Society’s sale of historical paintings could be illegal. The New York Jewish Week reported that the sale of the paintings could be illegal under New York law if the proceeds are used for operating expenses. Kenneth Bialkin, AJHS chairman, said that for five years he had wanted to sell the six paintings that belonged to the Franks, a prominent colonial Jewish family.
