The Bush administration signaled its strong interest in Cleveland’s school voucher program by filing a brief urging the Supreme Court to hear the case and uphold state tuition subsidies as constitutional. Policymakers need to know “whether such programs are a constitutionally permissible option for expanding education opportunity for children enrolled in failing public schools across America,” the brief said.
