The chairman of the Board of Institutions of Higher Learning, Amos Horev, said Tuesday the current financial crisis might cause universities to shut down. He told the Knesset Education Committee that universities were short 400 million Shekels and it is not clear where the funds to continue operations would come from. The committee called for an urgent meeting with the Finance and Education ministers.
