The death of a Druze on the Golan Heights, who was killed when he stepped on a mine while trying illegally to cross the Syrian border from Israel, led to the uncovering of three spy rings employed in the service of Syrian intelligence. An unspecified number of Golan Heights residents between the ages of 20 to 30 years were arrested during the past several days by Israeli security forces. Most of them were from the Druze village of Majd-el-Shams on the slopes of Mt. Hermon.
