The decision of the Egyptian Freemason Lodge to send a delegation to Palestine with the mission of bringing about peace between the Arabs and the Jews, was praised in the Egyptian paper “Liberte,” in an editorial this morning.
Any police enforcement of the status quo at the Wailing Wall in any form would be unwise, the paper states, because disciplinarian methods will not secure the position and will not avoid incitement and a possible recurrence of riots. Through good will, more can be achieved, through explanation and peaceful understanding between the Jews and Arabs, a permanent peace can be established.
The editorial suggests that the Egyptian Arabs take this task upon themselves because they are the most influential in the Islamic world. It is their sacred duty to work toward this end. If the Egyptian press, which is read extensively in Palestine and thaoughout the entire Islaic world, desires to fulfill its duty to humanity, it should discontinue to publish lies and inciting articles against the Jews.
