The director of the Israeli tourism office in Buenos Aires, Yeshayahu Shay, reported that during 1974, 11,000 Argentine tourists visited Israel, compared to 7700 in 1973. During the first three months of 1978, some 5700 Argentine tourists visited Israel, 77 percent more than during the same period in 1974. Shay announced the figures during a reception offered to institutions which had organized group travel to Israel.
