The Foreign Ministry is studying a Belgian request to take a position on a Greek initiative for an urgent meeting of European foreign ministers on the conflict in Lebanon. The same request reportedly is under study in other Western European capitals.
It came from Belgium whose Foreign Minister, Leo Tindemans, is currently chairman of the European Economic Community’s (EEC) Council of Ministers. Tindemans, who is in New York, was reportedly ready to fly to Brussels immediately if a decision is taken to hold a meeting.
