The Georgian Republic is honoring a rabbi with a stamp, the first such commemoration by any former Soviet republic. Rabbi Avraham Khvoles (1857-1931) was born in Lithuania and founded an educational institution in Georgia. B’nai B’rith International and the National Council on Soviet Jewry will honor Georgia for the stamp issue this week in a Capitol Hill ceremony.
