The negotiations conducted between the Jewish Agency and a sub-committee of the British cabinet since the issuance of the Mac-Donald letter explaining the White Paper of October, 1930, have not yet been concluded, Prof. Selig Brodetsky, a member of the Jewish Agency, declared last night in his political report to the opening meeting of the Council of the Jewish Agency.
Professor Brodetsky outlined the details of the conversations between the Jewish Agency and the Mandatory government and reviewed briefly the Palestine development scheme as well as the representations made by the Jewish Agency to the British government in this regard.
Vito Catasini, chief of the Mandates section of the League of Nations, who represented Sir Eric Drummond, general secretary of the League of Nations, expressed the hope that the intellectual, moral and material power of the Jew, who has shown so much power of resistance during so many years, is the best assurance of the success of Jewish aspiration.
Nahum Sokolow, newly-elected president of the Zionist Organization, and by virtue of that position also president of the Jewish Agency, delivered an impressive address eulogizing the memory of Louis Marshall, Lord Melchett and other members of the Jewish Agency who have died in the last two years. He made special reference to the victims of the Palestine riots of August, 1929.
The Council concluded it first session at 11 P. M.
