The U.S. Conservative movement has developed a Shabbat morning ceremony of blessings that recognize and express pride in a congregation’s high school graduates who are leaving for college. “The beginning of a college education has become as much a life-cycle event in most Jewish families as birth and Bar and Bat Mitzvah,” said Richard Moline, director of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism’s college outreach program.
