The U.S. government should not deport asylum-seekers before their claims are processed, Jewish groups said. In a letter Wednesday to Attorney General John Ashcroft and Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society and a coalition of Jewish groups say the refugees should be allowed to stay temporarily even if they entered the United States with false documents.
