Loans totalling 790,000 pounds were granted to 32 Arab villages in Israel last year. Agricultural Minister Kaddish Luz announced in Parliament today. He made his disclosure in reply to a question from an Arab deputy.
The loans, allocated from Israel’s 1955-56 development budget, were to be used for providing water, planting olive trees, fruit trees and tobacco. In addition, Mr. Luz said, the government endorsed loans totalling 500,000 pounds for individual Arab farmers. The government set up two mechanized units of tractors and combines for the use of Arab villages and supplies instructors to teach the Arabs how to use the equipment.
