Hastening to Lisbon to launch a “spring offensive against want in Europe,” Morris C. Troper, chairman of the European Executive Council of the Joint Distribution Committee, left this morning on the Atlantic Clipper from LaGuardia Airport.
In a statement issued on his departure, Troper said he was going back to Lisbon, where the overseas headquarters of the J.D.C. are located, because “now that armies are on the march again, humanitarian agencies such as the J.D.C. must respond to new appeals for help and must deal with greater problems of mass misery than have ever faced mankind before.” He was accompanied by his wife.
