Former President Harry S. Truman today came out with an article copyrighted by the North American Newspaper Alliance expressing his support of Eisenhower’s request for Congressional authorization to use U.S. armed forces against Communist aggression in the Middle East. At the same time, he emphasized that the United States must “do everything possible to cool the passions of those extremists who want to destroy Israel.”

The United States as well as the United Nations, should do everything possible to cool the passions of those extremists who want to destroy Israel,” he continued. “The boundary lines between Israel and Egypt must be settled and those boundaries guaranteed. The United Nations Emergency Forces could play a highly constructive role in this.” Mr. Truman suggested.
