Two young Hassidic Jews were shot and seriously wounded this morning in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn as they were chatting on a street corner with a friend, the police reported today. The victims, Michael Mendlevic, 18 and Fishel Friedman, 22, were admitted to Cumberland Hospital where officials described their condition as fair. Police said that the victims had told them that they had no idea as to any reason for the attack or of the identity of the assailant, who drove up in a car, stopped and fired three shots before racing away. Mr. Friedman was hit in the left arm and the side. His companion was hit in the side.
