Two Jews were killed at Magdiel, northeast of Tel Aviv, today when the village was attacked by a gang of armed Arabs.
The Arabs, numbering about 20 and clad in military uniforms topped with steel helmets, were repulsed by the Jews who hastily manned fortified positions immediately after the first exchange of fire. The Arabs were armed with submachine guns and Sten guns.
The Jewish dead were Gedalia Bernstein, 56, a watchman, and Mordechai Zukerlan, 36. The number of casualties among the attackers is unknown.
Extremist raids on the British continued today as sirens wailed in Jerusalem. In exchange of gunfire occurred in one of the “protected” zones in the Rehavia quarter, Late this evening shooting was heard in the city, but no details were immediatelly available.

Police searching a Tel Aviv plant today discovered a huge arms cache. Removed a large marble slab on which was fixed a telephone switchboard, they discovered steel door behind it, which opened up on a room full of weapons. The police had in searching the plant for the past few days.
