The University of Michigan announced today that Edward Stasheff Professor of Speech and an authority on school television, has been named director of production for Israel’s new Instructional Television Trust Studio Center. He will assume his new duties in May. The Center is near Tel Aviv University.
First telecasts are scheduled to start late this year or next January. There is now no television programming in Israel. Prof. Stasheff will spend about a year training teachers at the center in the techniques of television teaching. He will also instruct all production staff members, from producers to floor managers.
The television broadcasting which Prof. Stasheff will direct will be strictly educational. The neceiving schools in the test area will be those in Ramleh, Lod, the Jerusalem Corridor and the northern Negev.
