Osservatore Romano, semi-official Vatican organ, today denounced the spread of Nazi racial theories among Italians and warned that they might lead to “moral and material slavery.”

Condemning the distribution of Nazi books in Italian translation, the paper said Nazi race theories were the negation of science and Christian civilization and an insult to the religious conscience of the Italian nation. “Have Italian scholars nothing to say against racialism, which denies the highest values of life?” the article asked.
