Strong protests against the release of H. Sanitzer, former Cestapo leader, were renewed here today at the plenary session of the Jewish Community.
An Austrian court had sentenced Sanitzer to life imprisonment in 1946. Subsequently, he was extradited to the Soviet Union, but was returned to Austria after the conclusion of the Austrian State Treaty. Since then he has been free despite numerous protests by various organizations.
The Jewish Community here also demanded today the arrest of several other war criminals recently released by the Soviet Union. These include Nazis who were involved in the extermination of the Jews of Kolomea, Syryj, and Drohobycz.
