German Vice Chancellor Franz von Papen today issued an appeal to the Jews of the Saar region, plebiscite area ruled by a League of Nations Committee, to vote for Nazi Germany in the coming plebiscite pronnsing that the “Aryan clause” will not be applied to the Jewish government officials in the Saar.

Leading Paris newspapers point out that the German promises are utterly valueless, since despite the promises made by the Nazis in Uppor Silesia, where equality for the Jews was fortified by international treaties, the anti-Jewish boycott was rigorously persecuted by the Nazis.

The Jews of Upper Silesia, who won a victory when the League upheld the famous Bernheim petition and the Germans promised to adbide by the ruling, have since expressed dissatisfaction with their status.
