Addressing a large audience at Temple Beth El, Sherwood Eddy, international secretary of the Y. M. C. A., branded the Hitler persenutions of Jews in Germany as “medieval and brutal.”
Dr. Eddy spoke on the subject “What I Saw in Germany,” and in the course of his address endorsed the anti-Nazi boycott provided it is conducted on a general basis, by Jews and non-Jews alike. He maintained that if Jews alone boycott Germany it will do Jewry additional harm.
Referring to his recent visit in Washington, Dr. Eddy predicted that the Tydings resolution will not pass because the Senators will feel htat when a protest is submitted to Germany the Nazis will reply, “Why don’t you stop lynching Negroes before you object to persecution of Jews!”
Dr. Eddy also expressed himself in favor of taking the Olympic Games away from Germany.
