A Warsaw Jew, Herman Rotenberg, has presented to Finance Minister Jan Pilsudski a novel plan for solving Poland’s financial and unemployment problems, according to the “Hajnt.”
Rotenberg, says the paper, in a communication sent to Minister Pilsudski, suggests that every Polish citizen, man and woman, submit to the government bank his or her golden wedding bands. Those who do not wish to part with their rings, should be called upon to pay money in exchange.
Rotenberg estimates that the gold thus garnered would have a gold value of 250,000,000 zlotys and would enable the government bank to issue 750,000,000 zlotys in bank notes. This money, he proposes, be applied to building houses and credits for agriculture, industry and commerce, and will thus help to solve the unemployment problem in Poland.
