Wave of Rioting Spreads over Cities in Poland

In the township of Racionz, members of the anti-Semitic National Democratic Party started a riot Sunday evening, attacking every Jew they met on the street and storing the windows of Jewish houses. The police were at first helpless in checking the rowdies. Increased police forces were summoned to restore order.

The exact number of Jews injured has thus far not been established. The Jewish population avoids appearing on the street in fear of further riots.

300 GRODNO VICTIMS

More than 300 Jews registered themselves as victims of the anti-Jewish riots in Grodno. The Jewish community of Grodno is continuing registration of victims in order to establish the exact number of those injured and the extent of property damages suffered. Detailed reports from Grodno today show that the anti-Jewish riots there were more serious than pictured in the first reports.

The eight Jews who were arrested in Grodno for taking the lead in organizing Jewish self-defense during the riots were released today by the authorities.

Many thousands participated in the funeral of Israel Berizowsky, the 21-year-old Jewish youth who was killed during the Grodno riots. Amid tragic scenes, the victim was buried at dawn yesterday. The president of the Jewish Community in Grodno, Mr. Tropkrinsky, eulogized the dead youth and said the Kadish over his grave in behalf of the entire Jewish community.

All Jewish stores in Grodno were closed for six hours in mourning for the Jewish victim of the riots.
