Synagogues and churches in the Ukraine will be confiscated by the Soviet Authorities if the number of worshippers in the respective districts is not sufficient to justify the upkeep of these places of worship, according to an ordinance issued by the Ukrainian Government.
The ordinance authorizes also the confiscation of synagogue and church buildings a in places where the population is in acute need of the premises for sanitary, medical and cultural purposes.
