–An Amsterdam woman who traveled to the Middle East with the intention of gaining a better understanding of the Palestinians told a Dutch weekly she returned with the desire to alert public opinion to the deplorable situation of Jews living in Syria.
The woman, a pharmacy assistant, who wished to remain anonymous, said in the current issue of the Dutch Reformed Church weekly, “Hervormd Nederland.” that she was appalled by the oppression and horrible conditions in which Syrian Jews live in Damascus. She said she was allowed to visit the Jewish quarter in the Syrian capital under a Syrian police guard.
