The Women’s Division of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities tomorrow will launch a borough-wide roll call with the object of adding ten thousand contributors to the Federation’s $500,000 twenty-fifth anniversary campaign now being conducted for the support of the twenty-five constituent societies.

Mrs. Nathan L. Goldstein is general chairman of the drive, which will continue from May 21 to May 31, and bring into the endeavor nearly 1,000 women. District chairmen and team captains for every section of the borough were announced last night by Mrs. Goldstein.

A sum totalling $196,374 has already been raised in the $500,000 campaign to fill the budget of the twenty-five constituent agencies of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities.

MRS. GOLDSTEIN’S STATEMENT

Mrs. Goldstein in a statement last night set forth the aims of the roll call, saying:

“Our chief object in this roll call is to democratize the Federation-to bring the twenty-five affiliated agencies and their aims and achievements closer to our people as a whole. The real purpose of the Federation is to alleviate human suffering and distress.

“No matter how progressive or successful any community may be, the processes of life bring into that community a certain amount of human misfortune, suffering and dependency. No duty is more exacting than that of binding the wounds of the afflicied. It is a duty which challenges our finest instincts as sympathetic men and women.”
