Seventy degrees and six honorary degrees were conferred today at the 18th annual commencement exercises of Yeshiva University. The honorary degrees were awarded to Dr. James B. Conant, President of Harvard University; Dr. J. Hillis Miller, President of the University of Florida; Dr. Benjamin Fine, education editor of the New York Times; Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, European director of the Joint Distribution Committee; Rabbi Jacob Levinson, Jewish educator and Talmudic scholar; and Dr. Leo Jung, Professor of ethics at Yeshiva.
Five rabbinical degrees were awarded at the graduation exercises. At the same time, 49 graduates of Yeshiva’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences received B.A. degrees and 16 graduates of the Teachers Institute were awarded teachers diplomas.
