The Jewish Agency decided today that the oftpostponed meeting of the Zionist Actions Committee will convene in Zurich on Aug. 24.
Mrs. Goldie Meirson, chairman of the Jerusalem section of the Agency’s political department, attempted to resign today, explaining that her physician had ordered her to rest, but the executive refused to accept her resignation, and granted her a leave of absence. The executive also declined to accept the profferred resignation of Rabbi Judah L. Fishman, Mizrachi leader. The meeting received formal notification from the Zionist-Revisionists that the World Revisionist Organization has been dissolved.
The Hebrew press today marked the first anniversary of the government’s attempt to liquidate the Agency and jail its leaders. Editorials state that the unsuccessful effort strengthened the Yishuv and brought it greater support and added strength.
A new settlement will be established in the Negev tomorrow, bringing to 15 the number of Jewish colonies in the southern desert. It will be sponsored by the Hapoel Mizrachi. The Hasbomer Hatzair is also establishing a colony tomorrow in the northern part of the country.
