The Only Turkey-Style Challah Braiding Video You’ll Ever Need

Perhaps the greatest gift that last year’s Thanksgivukkah gave American Jews—well, third greatest, if we count the menurkeys on our windowsills and the orange cranberry jelly doughnuts we want in our bellies—is the invitation to embrace our strange American Jewish hybridity. With that in mind, Shannon Sarna, the editor of The Nosher Jewish food blog has by all measures officially outdone herself, and all of us. And Martha Stewart.

Shannon has a better idea than perusing the sales racks for your Friday after Thanksgiving: Make your Friday night challah in the shape of—wait for it—a turkey. It involves six distinct braids, candy eyes, a candy corn nose, and a video that can only be described as food porn at its finest. You and your dinner guests can thank us later. But only if you promise to send photos.

And for those of you grappling with the old “Is it kosher for American Jews to celebrate Thanksgiving?” quandary, we urge you to think of the children:

Noshing the challah
