Alan Bergman, Oscar-winning lyricist and ‘father figure’ to Barbra Streisand, dies at 99

Bergman and his wife Marilyn wrote the words for “The Way We Were,” “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” and the songs in the movie “Yentl.”

With a performance by drag artist Simply Barbra, a screening by The Neighborhood emphasizes the movie musical’s Jewish, feminist and queer themes.

“If there’s one thing I’m certain about,” one speaker said, “it’s that Jewish women get shit done.”
