The statement of the Austrian Vice-Chancellor that the League’s Council had approved the exulsion of Eastern European Jews is due probably to a misunderstanding, it is learned. In the negotiations regarding this question conducted by the Joint Foreign Committee of British Jews with the Austrian government, through the Council, the gradual “evacuation” of the Jews, and not their expulsion, was considered, it was stated here today.
